Review review review~

I visited my cousin yesterday. She was just discharged from the hospital and staying at a hotel in Orchard now. I took the opportunity to visit her and at the same time drop by Kino to get Pandora Hearts 8D

...to find that they only have the chinese ones.

OTLLLLL

I don't think they'll release the english ones anytime soon. Just like Kuroshitsuji. WHIIINNEEEEEE.

Nevermind. I got myself 3 vols of World Embryo instead. I wanted to get Yozakura Quartet as well but I can't find vol 1. I'm gonna be broke anyway >.> My brother got Mushishi 3, Getbackers ?, Ar Tonelico 2 (Japanese).

I spent like... 4, 5 hours in the hotel room reading? @_@

Watched Ben 10: Race Against Time on the tv for a while too.

Anyways, time for another review of the latest manga I read~~

-Pandora Hearts
-World Embryo
-Mirai Nikki

+Pandora Hearts+

The first time I saw the cover, the character resembled Loki from Matantei Loki Ragnarok so much that I thought the author was also Sakura Kinoshita. Apparently it's not. The art style of this manga is better and with much less simplification, compared to Matantei Loki Ragnarok. ITS THE ART STYLE THAT I'VE BEEN AIMING FOR SINCE FOREVER. Nghhh. I'm gonna stalk this author.

Oz Bezarius, 15, next heir to the royal Bezarius clan, encountered events during his coming-of-age ceremony that would change his life forever. Ambushed by his hypnotized servant Gilbert, he was captured by the Baskervilles and thrown into the Abyss, a prison that seems like something from another dimension. The Abyss reminds me of the N-field in Rozen Maiden. Random things just appear and float around there. And there's darkness everywhere. There, Oz met Alice, a powerful Chain taking the form of a girl. Her true form is a monstrous black rabbit. Chains are monster-like creatures that pop out here and there in the Abyss, eating souls. Just like those beings in Shakugan no Shana. Alice was a totally different Chain, with emotions and actions akin to that of a normal human being. She had awoken in the Abyss with no recollection, and after searching the Abyss for her memories in vain, she decided to escape the Abyss in search of her missing memories. She made a contract with Oz, and both escaped the Abyss with her power.

The rest would be spoilers so I'll stop here.

What was the great sin that Oz committed for the Baskervilles to want to lock him up in the Abyss so much? Will Alice ever recover all her memories? Why did she lose them in the first place? What was the true connection between her and Oz?

Thankfully, the series is still ongoing.

+World Embryo+

I started reading this because it's from the same author as Chrno Crusade. And I *love* Chrno Crusade. The design of the main character also caught my attention.

The Kanshu are creatures that travel by electromagnetic waves. When cellphones start ringing together at the same time in an area, chances are that area is in the range of a Kanshu. People who pick up their cellphones and listen to the sound of the Kanshu will be infected by it, and turn into Kanshu themselves. They'll be like zombies attacking other people.

Riku Amami, 16, student and orphan, went to his old abandoned orphanage in search for his elder sister Amane who was missing for 2 years. Apparently he received a photo of her on his cellphone with the orphanage indoor garden in the background 2 days ago, hence he went to look. He encountered a bunch of hooligans instead and was rescued by Rena Arisugawa and Yohei Takebe. Not long after, one of the hooligans was infected by Kanshu and went on a rampage. Several other Kanshu began to arrive at the building. Riku, separated from Rena and Yohei, escaped into the indoor garden and was almost killed by a Kanshu when there was a sudden flash of light. The Kanshu crumbled into dust and Riku found a giant cocoon which he believed was his savior. He took it back home.

Some time later, the cocoon hatched and out came a baby girl with red and white hair and strange ears that looked a lot like his sister Amane when she was young. She was named Nene cause that's the only thing she could say back then. So Riku and his mom decided to take care of her and raise her.

What followed was another Kanshu attack which released Nene's powers. Riku was turned into a Kanshu - except he still retained his human form. He just had white and red hair and incredible strength. With that, he managed to protect Nene and himself from the Kanshu attack. He was captured by NEFT after that, an organization that researches Kanshu to find the source of infection and eliminate it. People infected by the Kanshu have up to 72 hours before they lose their sanity and turn into wrecking monsters.

Read the rest yourself :)

I'm so in love with Riku's Kanshu-Jinki appearance~~ *swoon*

Who or what is Nene exactly? What does the future hold for Riku?

The series is still ongoing.

+Mirai Nikki+

I was discussing with my brother about the recent trend of psychopath teens butchering their friends in anime/manga and he suggested that I read this before I read Highschool of the Dead or Battle Royale. I'm just very into psychological thrillers and things like that :) Why do you think I love Deadman Wonderland and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni lol. I even watched all 4 Saw movies even when I'm not supposed to ^^

Yukiteru Amano, antisocial student, declines every offer to mix around with his classmates. Every day, every time, he writes in his cellphone diary of events taking place around him, claiming that writing in his cellphone diary and his imagination is all that he needs. He's also very into darts. He has a friend called Deus Ex Machina, Lord of Time & Space, whom he thinks is imaginary.

One day, Deus turns his cellphone diary into a Future Diary. It records down events taking place in a day, even when the events haven't taken place yet. At first Yuki took it as a joke, but found out it was true. He was horrified to discover that Deus wasn't just his imagination afterall. He was real, and a God, therefore able to live in people's imaginations.

Deus had picked 12 people as Future Diary Holders to compete and take each other out. The last survivor will he his successor and will be the next Lord of Time & Space. The identities of the 12 will not be revealed and they're supposed to use the powers of their diaries to help them. Since the diary is the Holder's future, destroying the diary will destroy his or her future, meaning he or she will die. Yuki, unaware that he was a participant at first, managed to change his future and averted his Dead End by killing the 3rd Holder before he himself was killed, with the help of the 2nd Holder, Yuno Gasai. Yuno is his classmate and his stalker. Her diary is called the Yukiteru Diary, which reveals Yuki's actions every 10 mins for the whole day. That's what I call an ultimate, psycho stalker. And yes, she's a psychopath. She'd KILL anyone who harms Yuki. And she's very skilled. Yuki's diary is called the No Difference Diary, which shows the events taking place around him.

The Diary Holders are able to change their futures depending on the actions they take. For example, if their diary shows that they'll encounter an accident, they have a choice whether to evade it or to go along with it. If they evade it, the future will change accordingly in the diary, and if they don't, the future will be as how the diary predicted earlier. If a Holder is going to die on that day, the diary will reveal how he or she dies and ends with a "Dead End" entry. A Dead End means that any other alternative paths that the Holder tries to make to evade death is shut. It will then take a miracle to turn the tables and escape the Dead End.

In short, it's a whole mess and jumble of predicting moves and changing your fates in a battle to trap and kill each other. This is gonna be fun @w@;;

Please don't read if you can't stand psychological thrillers with psychopath teens and kids butchering people. It's something like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, just more... modern and confusing? I can tell this is gonna be more tensed and exciting compared to Higu 8D

The series is still ongoing.

Well that's it for now :3

I'm gonna continue reading Mirai Nikki for a while and then go sleep. I didn't study today oh no :( I have Emaths mock exam tomorrow and I'm not sure if I have Physics as well. Ngh.

Of spirits, demons, and gods.

Oh gawd now I have a new manga fandom. I fell in love with Mushishi after like, half of vol 1. It talks about little things in life that people tend to overlook and ignore... with mythical explanations. It's totally my type of entertainment. *love~*

I also started watching Majintantei Nougami Neuro. I was just a little overwhelmed by the manga art so I decided to watch instead. But I heard the manga's better and it's still ongoing even though the anime's ended so I think I'll still read the manga in the end.

Now I'm also starting to read Pandora Hearts.

So why is it that I suddenly expanded my otaku habits when O levels is just 4 weeks away, I wonder.

Anyway.

---

Mushishi... tells about these "creatures" or "beings" that are not human nor animals nor plants. They're unlike anything people have seen before.

If you look at the artery system of your arm, there are thin arterioles at your fingers. The four fingers represent the animals, and the thumb represents the plants. Humans are at the the very tip of the middle finger, the farthest away from the heart. If you trace back along the arterioles, they'll join back into one artery, eventually the branches of arteries join back together, and soon, it's difficult to differentiate between plants and animals. As you move along the arm, that's where the microorganisms like algae and amoeba are. It gets closer and closer to the heart, the source of life, the beginning of living beings. Finally, close to the heart, there lies the "mushi".

Some of them are invisible, some can pass through walls, some float, some crawl, some imitate the looks of others, some people refer to them as 'ghosts', some as 'spirits' or 'gods' or simply the unexplainable. All in all, most of them are dangerous.

Ginko, a wandering mushishi or mushi master, roams the land curing strange plaques involving the mushi.

The first chapter tells about a boy with "God's hand", the ability to bring anything he draws to life.

The second chapter tells about the mushi "Un" which eats sounds. It mostly gathers in snowcapped mountain tops as snow absorbs sounds. It resides in the snail-like, spiral structure in the internal human ear. Hence, you get the painful feeling in your ears in total silence as the "Un" eats all the sound in high mountain tops. It also tells about "A", the mushi which eats silence. It causes people to hear things they don't usually hear, like the falling of the snow on soft ground, or the hundreds and thousands of whispers that mushi make. Every sound seems amplified as silence is eaten, it'll drive you nuts.

The third chapter tells about the mushi "Imenonoawai" which resides in dreams. It sometimes makes dreams come true. Not daydreams, but dreams you have in your sleep, so it may not necessarily be a good thing. What's more, you can never get rid of this mushi. The man who was infected with this parasite mushi led a really depressing life.

The fourth chapter tells about the mushi "Manakonoyamimushi" which resides in darkness. Closing your eyes isn't true darkness, nor is switching off the light and drawing the curtains and locking yourself up in the room at night. True darkness can only be attained if you close your second eyelid. This mushi breeds in the true darkness and appears in the form of a stream of beautiful light. The person who is able to close his or her second eyelid and sees that stream of light too much will find it painful to see daylight, and eventually, will not be able to open his or her eyes anymore.

The fifth chapter tells about the mushi "Suiko" which makes up a swamp. The swamp keeps migrating from place to place in search of the sea, and when it finally gets to the sea after thousands of years, the "Suiko" is disintegrated and dispersed towards the sea. The "Suiko" is always trying to end its own life that way. This mushi is translucent and live in old water veins, ponds and wells. When accidentally drunk, the person will no longer be able to breathe above water, and his or her body will slowly turn translucent. If not treated, he or she will melt and flow away like water.

There's 5 chapters in every volume. I read volume 2 as well but I think it's better if you go read it yourself cause it's GODAMN INTERESTING. I just don't know how to make good summaries :(

Majintantei Nougami Neuro is about this bird-like demon from hell named Neuro who consumes mysteries. He consumed all the mysteries of the underworld but wasn't satisfied, and so went up to earth in search for more delicious mysteries. He made acquaintance with a girl named Yako whose dad was murdered in some mysterious way. He made Yako pose as an expert schoolgirl detective even though he's the one doing the analyzing cause he doesn't want his life to be intruded or something. So basically all Yako does is get controlled by Neuro to point a finger at the culprit.

"Hannin wa.... anata!" *dramatic music here*

Oh god this is so Tantei Gakuen Q/Detective Conan/Detective Kindaichi/*insert whatever detective show here*. Who gave these detective shows this idea?

After all the explaining Neuro would take a chance to eat the cloud of mystery surrounding the culprit's heart (by stuffing the culprit's head into his demon bird beak) and then the culprit would become weak and powerless and go confess everything.

Happy end.

Sounds kinda cheesy, but I heard it gets really good in the later parts so I'm gonna continue this series slowly.

Neuro, huge craving for mysteries.
Yako, huge craving for food.

What gluttons for a demon and a schoolgirl v.v

Ah well. There's school tomorrow and I haven't done any work this weekend. I only played Atelier Iris 2 on friday night too. It'll probably take me another weekend or two before I finish it. After that I'll take a break from games until after O levels.

I'm gonna go read Pandora Hearts now so... till next time :D

D.R.I.P.S

My cousin came to SG on friday for an operation. Apparently she had a bad spine and needed the metal thing to be inserted to make her back straight. She checked in the moment she arrived and had her operation the following morning.

I arrived at the waiting room shortly before the surgeon came out of the operating theatre and told us the operation was a great success. It didn't have much impact on me back then, cause I had just arrived not long ago. Imagine my aunt though. She's been there from the time when my cousin was put to sleep - that was about 5 hours of waiting. I can feel that anxiousness of a worried mother.

We went down to the canteen for some shaved ice and by the time we got back they've transferred my cousin to the ICU. I could only see her for a few seconds before the nurses drew the curtains and attached those tubes to her. That few seconds was.... quite a large impact on me though. Seeing her lying there on the bed, with a tube into her mouth and a pump to help her breathe, as well as all the other hospital equipment which I thought I could only see in movies... it felt kinda overwhelming, that few seconds. I never thought I could ever see someone I know in the hospital like that. That few seconds of image burned into my mind like a re-enactment of ER. I must say though, hospital equipment do look kinda cool. I breathed a really huge sigh of relief and subsequently almost teared from the sight. That cousin of mine was... I should say, the closest relative I have next to my brother and parents. I finally understood what it feels like to lose someone precious... except I didn't really lose anyone, but you get my point. It feels sort of... empty. Like a sudden hole appearing in the path you're walking and you don't notice it till you fall down. It didn't feel real...

Anyway, I'll just come back tomorrow.

We went to Taka after that. I rushed to Kino with my bro. I grabbed issue 23 of Cosmode japan and issue 1 of Cosmode USA. My bro got Saiyuki Reload 7, Mushishi 1 and 2. I wanted to get Brave Story 4 and 5 but I guess I'm gonna be flat broke pretty soon. The two mags cost me more than 50 even with discount. *dies*

Mum got us omelet yakisoba and takoyaki for dinner. I still want to try the cone pizza.

Anyway, I went to visit her again today. She's awake now, but still very weak and could only talk in whispers. Aww man. I brought a hell lot of books for her to read too. She was still in the ICU.

After I went down with my aunt for some shaved ice and to buy a little cushion we followed the nurses pushing my cousin's bed to her room at ward 66. Single room. This rocks. She even got a personal TV. It's not as great as the suite room next door but... it's cool, either way. We spent about another hour or so in there while my aunt and uncle and dad and bro talked and went down for a snack. I spent my entire time there reading Mushishi and my Cosmode mags.

When it was time to go I put the little bear I brought for her on her bed and left with dad and bro and uncle and my other little cousin. My aunt's staying the night with her. We went to suntec for dinner at the ramen shop Beppu... something, and went home after that.

I'll go visit her again on Friday after school probably. By then she'd be able to walk about and talk normally already, so we can go watch a movie on my bro's laptop or something.

---

PS If you're wondering what DRIPS is, it's something the nurses have to check when they're tending to a newly arrived patient at the ICU. I forgot what are those 5 things ._.

August Sevens

Godammit I missed the whole of August here rofl.

August happenings:

1. Prelims!
2. Olympics
3. Cross Country
4. National Day
5. WCG/Coscon
6. Natsu Matsuri
7. YamadaRyosukeomg*fangirls*

7 topics for 7 wonders of the world, 7 deadly sins, 7 colours of the rainbow, 7 days of the week, 7 the lucky number, 7 basic necessities of the Chinese, 7 continents of the world, 7 seas, and whatever miracle 7s that you can think of.

ONE

Prelims was... okay I guess? Though the chemistry paper was surprisingly murderous and the amath papers were frustratingly tideous. Hell, even my tuition teacher who could finish a university maths paper in 20mins took 1h 45mins for my amath paper 2. Chemistry was.... uh, they totally got me. It's overloaded with electrolysis, which I'm weak at. HOW DID THEY KNOW.

What I'm happy with was that they scheduled for prelims to end right before the sep hols. THANK YOU TEACHERS/STAFF/PRINCIPAL/VP. At least I don't have to be like some friends who had to study through the hols cause their prelims weren't over yet.

TWO

Olympics? I only watched the opening ceremony like, twice. Cause it really was gorgeous, until I heard about that fake singing, fake fireworks thingy. But if you ask me to judge from what I see, then hell yeah it was awesome.

I didn't really watch much cause it's right smack in the middle of prelims. Usually I caught swimming when I switch on the TV. Which I think is, well, kind of a ridiculous coincidence cause everything water leads to me.

I'm a pisces. My chinese name has some water thing in its meaning. I'm a water monkey according to the chinese zodiac. My element is water. And yeah I love swimming, etc etc.

Congrats Michael Phelps for winning 8 golds. Now the teachers are using him to convince us that 8 distinctions are possible.

The closing ceremony was... I dunno how to describe it. Besides the cute little kids on the drums, the rest of it looked like a cheap concert.

THREE

Cross country was quite a waste of time. As ever.

Every year I had to wake up at 5 to report in time at ECP like a rooster. And then we'll sit on the dewy grass like a herd of sheep. And then run 5km like a bunch of horses. There are the racing horses who sprint all the way, then there are the horses that are used for tourist sightseeings or to be chopped up and sent to the zoo. That's me.

Just the right year for them to announce that no game consoles or mp3s are allowed. I was just about to spend my waiting time playing Apollo Justice, and run with my mp3 on. Ngh.

They don't even have the milo truck this year!!!!!111oneone

FOUR + FIVE

National Day was in conjunction with WCG/Coscon at Suntec.

I spent the whole Coscon day with some of the KHR team members. Beffy was Ken in business suit, Daikon was Chikusa in business suit, Snowi was Haru in uniform, Danz was Yamamoto in casual, and Reifes was Lancia in business suit. With the giant ball which we overly abused.

We did practically nothing but chat, lame, run around, identify people, lame somemore, getting Beffy and Daikon to do ChikuxKen... yeah.

We stayed for quite a while after the event was over. I went to watch fireworks at Marina Square with Broken, Haruto, and gang. It was painfully crowded. Thanks to Elle and another guy who were cosplaying the Sims, we didn't get lost. Basically it's just casual wear with the green diamond thing floating above your head when you select the character.

"When you're lost, follow the green floating thingy."

The fireworks were awesome upfront. I managed to snap a few shots, including some giant abstract projections they made on a building, but am lazy to post them here :D

Go ahead, brick me.

SIX

(copied and pasted from DA journal cause I'm lazy like that.)

Natsu Matsuri was as crowded as last year.

Worse of all, it was RAINING. So they moved the Bon Odori dance to the sports hall instead of the usual stage in the open field. The first thing I noticed when I saw the wet stage, was a huge teruterubozu hanging on one of the steel poles. I loled. LOL.

If you don't know what a teruterubozu is, you might wanna do a bit of research ;D I shouldn't spoil the fun.

I get to try some makizushi, candy apple, ice cream, ramune, and my usual booze: Asahi. Yeahhh nothing better like a cold can of 6% alcohol on a hot summer day.

I'm a minor.

For the whole event I kept switching between cliques cause I bumped into countless number of friends there. Oh oh my two cousins were there too. They happen to be in Singapore cause one of them needed a spine checkup so I took them to the event.

It never stopped raining. So we almost had no place to sit for the entire evening, till we spotted some people leaving the table and quickly rushed forward to snatch the seats. Yeeeaaaahhhh dryness. You just love taking up seats that others have cleaned for you right? Right? :)

I didnt participate in the Bon Odori. Partly cause my feet hurt from wearing unseasoned, squeeeezy getas. And I figured the sports hall would be super crowded and I just respect personal space. So there. Oh and I was in yukata. Rather hard to breathe or move about.

The event ended with me and my friends fishing up water balloons.

Let's see if things will be more fun next year.

I wanted to try the vegetable curry!! And get the bread mask!!! Nghhh~!!!

SEVEN

Thanks to my cousins who came to Singapore and brought me the August volume of Animonster, I found out about Tantei Gakuen Q dorama.

AND IMMEDIATELY STREAMED IT.

I was in awe at Ryo-chan (who played as Ryuu) at first sight ohgawd. HOW COULD SOMEONE SO CUTE BE SO COOL.

So right now I'm still stalking him. I've watched all the dramas he acted in (Tantei Gakuen Q, Tantei Gakuen Q special, Furuhata Chugakusei, Sensei wa Erai!...) except 1 Pound no Fukuin which I'm gonna watch soon after I finish watching Engine cause Kimutaku and Yuto are acting in it and Yuto is so cute when he was 13. I stalks him too. Oh and another drama starring Ryosuke, Yuto, Chinen and Daiki will be out after Oct - Scrap Teacher. I CANT WAIT. *hyperventilates*

I've also been watching his concert vids. Especially Perfume and Glass no Shounen cause he looks so... fuaahh~ in a white tailcoat. Oh right I forgot to mention he's from a group called Hey!Say!JUMP right now.

HE ALWAYS DOES STUPID THINGS INFRONT OF CAMERAS WHEN HE'S OFF STAGE AND ITS SO FREAKING CUTE.

I wasn't surprised when he's named Johnny's next golden boy cause hell yeah he fits it perfectly.

Even SMAP and V6 were from Johnny's. Holy hell Johnny's Jimusha really does produce painfully gorgeous and talented dudes. Yes even Kimutaku. He was named Japan's sexiest man. WHY AM I BORN A GIRL. WHY!!!

---

I think I'm scaring you with my rabid fangirl mode so I'll stop here. I was supposed to watch ep 5 of Engine like 2 hours ago but things keep interrupting me.

ARE YOU HAPPY THAT I UPDATED MY BLOG HUH?!!?!
